IRMO — Mr. Sidney Walton Gault, Sr., 73, 107 Hever Court, Irmo, SC, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at his home.

Mr. Gault was born in Union, SC June 22, 1939, a son of the late Fred Gault and Virginia Montgomery Gault. He was a graduate of Union High School and had attended USC Union. Mr. Gault was formerly employed with United Merchants — Union Plant and retired from Hefner Tire Company in Columbia. Mr. Gault was an avid Gamecock fan and animal lover. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was formerly married to Hazel Moore Gault.

Surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth Jane Gault of Columbia and Leslie Gault Mendelsohn and husband Paul of Lexington; a son, Sidney W. Gault, Jr. of Columbia; two brothers, Fred J. “Scooter” Gault, Jr and wife Gayle of Anderson and John G. Gault and wife Dolly of Mt. Pleasant and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2012 at the SR Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Chaplain Willie Crum.

Visitation will be held in the chapel immediately following the service.
