UNION — Mr Garrette Lee Hitchcox, 84, 3522 Jonesville Lockhart Highway, Union, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Hitchcox was the widower of Ina Ruth Smith Hitchcox.

Mr. Hitchcox was born in Bledsoe, TN March 12, 1928, a son of the late Willis Hitchcox and Ola Mae Hatfield Hitchcox. He was a graduate of Bledsoe High School and retired from TRW Ross Gear. Mr. Hitchcox was a member of Philippi Baptist Church where he was a member of the Joy Club.

Surviving are a son, Jason Lee Hitchcox and wife Stephanie of the home; a sister, Janice Baskett and husband Wayne; a brother, Olen Hitchcox and wife JoAnn all of TN and a granddaughter, Ashley Hitchcox of Newberry.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Philippi Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Brad Goodale and Rev. Robert Scott.

Visitation will be held in the church immediately following the service.
