JONESVILLE — For the second time in two weeks there’s been an automobile accident at the intersection of US Highway 176 and New Hope Church Road outside Jonesville.

The two-vehicle collision occurred late Sunday afternoon, according to Jonesville Fire Chief Jimmy Wilkins.

Wilkins said a Jeep Cherokee was traveling west on New Hope Church Road and was struck by a Nissan traveling south on US 176. He said two people were injured in the accident with one of the injured being taken to Wallace Thomson Hospital after complaining about pain in his side.

Responding to the accident were the Jonesville Fire Department, Union County EMS, Union County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol. No further information was available at press time.

This was the second accident at the intersection in the past two weeks. There was a three-car collision shortly before 5 p.m. there on Jan. 25.

Despite the number of vehicles involved there were no serious injuries reported in that incident.
