The Sims’ boys basketball team lost another close game to Boiling Springs last night 45-36.

Boiling Springs took a 10-point lead into halftime, but the Tigers would fight back and cut the lead to five in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers took the lead for a short time in the fourth, but some key mistakes hurt.

"We are showing progress and improvement,” coach Mitchell Moss said. “It was another undefeated team. We just have to learn how to win games. The great thing about this team is they are not giving up. When their number is called they step-up."

Devarius Rogers and Shakir Smith lead the Tigers with seven points. Matt Barnett and Triston Armstrong added six points each. Kennedy Beatty scored five points, Jordan Spencer added four while Jared Booker scored one point. De-Juan Shell, Shemar Glenn and Andrew Crocker did a great job on the defensive side of the ball.

Sims travels to Gable on Monday and will finish the first half of the season at home next Thursday.

Lady Tigers lose 36-12

The Sims’ girls basketball team were defeated Thursday night 36-12 by Boiling Springs.

Cierra Mitchell led the Lady Tigers with 6 points. Diamond Lee, Erica Newton and Jericka Hall each scored 2 points.

Lee and My'Destiney Thomas had outstanding defensive efforts.

“I am pleased with the improvement that we are showing,” coach Kelly Jenkins said. “These girls are moving in a positive direction.”
