The Union Public Safety Department reported the following arrests:
— Otis Lipscomb, III, 31, of 123 Lovers Lane, Union, was charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, third-degree assault and battery, malicious damage to property, possession of crack cocaine, and possession of a controlled substance around 5:15 a.m. on March 12. According to arrest warrants, Lipscomb displayed a butcher knife and a baseball bat at a woman, causing her to call 911 in fear for her life and safety. Warrants also state Lipscomb struck the rear driver-side window of a vehicle with a baseball bat, breaking glass and causing lacerations to a passenger of the car.
— Timothy Eugene Hilliard, 44, of 3530 Furman L. Fendley Highway, Jonesville, was charged with disorderly conduct around 12:35 p.m. on March 11.
— Kevin Scott Moore, 21, of 271 Meansville Road, Union, was charged with disorderly conduct around 10:45 p.m. on March 12.
— Albert Henry Turner, Jr., 68, of 755 North Duncan Bypass, Union, was charged with disorderly conduct around 12:22 a.m. on March 13.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incidents:
— Officers responded to Li’l Cricket, located at 3200 Janie Glymph Goree Boulevard, Carlisle, on March 11 in reference to a phone scam. The district manager stated that an unknown subject scammed the store out of $5,000 worth of phone cards by calling the store and claiming to be from the Li’l Cricket corporate office. The subject had a store employee activate several MIO and Netspend phone cards over the phone. Several stores have had issues with this scam. The case will be given to investigations.
— The district manager of Rent-A-Center reported on March 2 that a customer, who was renting several items to own, had pawned the items in Union County, claiming to own them even though he still owed money on each item. Items pawned included a Panasonic plasma TV valued at $1,600, an Acer laptop computer valued at $400, and an Acer tablet valued at $400.
