UNION — The special election for the District 3 Union City Council seat will be a three-way race.
Municipal Clerk Gloria Rogers announced Monday that as of the close of filing three people — Vicki Morgan, Robin Price, and Yates Giles — had filed to run in the April 23 special election for the District 3 council seat. Filing for the special election closed at noon Monday.
The District 3 seat has been vacant since the death of councilman Keith Henderson on January 27. Henderson was serving his third term at the time of his death.
The winner of the April 23 special election will serve the remainder of Henderson’s term which expires in 2016.
Voters in District 3 will cast their ballots at the Union Housing Authority, Union County Courthouse, Union Country Recreation Department, the Masonic Lodge, and Buffalo Elementary School.
Rogers said that District 3 residents who want to vote in the special election must be registered to do so by March 23. She said that persons wanting to register should contact the Union County Voter Registrar’s Office at 429-1616.
