Throughout my years in the ministry, I’ve been asked a lot of questions. Truthfully, most of them I just didn’t have an answer to. There were some times that I could only answer by giving them what God’s word says. My opinions are based on the word of God but by giving God’s word, people can draw their own conclusions with what the Bible has to say.

Everyone’s situations and circumstances are so different and people handle things differently. Two people may be suffering from the same illness but because of their situations or circumstances, they may respond differently. I’ve had occasion to deal with the sick as well as the healthy, the young and the old, singles looking for a mate, and married people who want to be single again. I’ve been asked a lot of questions but one that always seems to keep coming up is, “What should I do?”

We have all asked this question at some point in our life to either a parent, spouse, friend, minister, or God Almighty. It is a question that seeks direction, wisdom, insight, and assurance in the midst of an unknown situation. One of the scariest parts of living is dealing with the unknown. What should I do? What should I say? My answers to these questions have always been to pray and trust God. But now I’ve found a better answer in the precious word of God.

You see, it sounds good for other preachers as well as myself to say, “You just trust the Lord.” I follow that same advice. I trust in Him daily, even hourly. But before you can trust Him, you have to bow. In Philippians 2:10-11 the Bible says, “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow of things in heaven and in earth and things under the earth. And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.” These verses tell us that no matter what God allows to come in your life that first thing you need to do is bow to Jesus.

“What should I do?” “Every knee should bow!” When you bow to the Lord you are submitting to Him. It is no longer your will but now it is God’s will. You should bow and then second, you should confess. Acknowledge the fact that God is control. The only way God will be glorified with your life is by bowing and confessing.

So next time you are wondering and waiting without answers and any direction, just stop and bow to Jesus. Confess to Him and He who knows all and sees all will give you what you are looking for.
