SPARTANBURG — Mrs. Lizzie Leana “Leaner” M. Lawson, 96, of Magnolia Manor of Spartanburg, formerly of Union, S.C., widow of Roscoe W. Lawson Sr., passed away at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice House Monday afternoon, Jan., 14, 2013.

Mrs. Lawson was born in Union, Sept. 17, 1916, the daughter of Bart and Dorothy Maness.

She is survived by two sons, Richard Lawson and wife Sherry and Roscoe Lawson and wife Beatrice; a daughter-in-law, Mary Alice Leonhardt; and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Lawson is pre-deceased by her daughter, Yvonne Leonhardt, and son, Edward Leonhardt.

Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her heart.

Leaner is the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Funeral services will be held graveside at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 at the Jonesville Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Robert Branch.
