Mariana Eison is establishing herself as one of the top scorers and rebounders in the area. Last week she scored 19 points against Chapman and 15 points against Broome to help Union County to 2-0 in the region before the team saw its first conference loss to Chester on Friday night. Eison netted 14 points in the contest including a pair of three-pointers late in the fourth quarter to close a seven point Cyclones lead to one point.

“Mariana is a versatile player,” said Union County Coach Angela Burke. “In addition to being a shooting guard, she is strong enough to play a small forward. She has the moves, agility and rebounding ability to score and out-rebound other post players.”

Over the past three games Eison has rotated from shooting guard to post player for the Jackets and averages approximately six rebounds with two shot blocks per game.

“Marianna always accepts the challenge and tries to do the best she can do in both postions,” said Burke. “Even though she’s just a sophomore, she is one of the strongest leaders on the team. She is vocal, energetic, encouraging, hard working, commited and a team player. This is why she is one of the captains of our team.”
