I thought Wynonna Judd had come to Lockhart, but instead I think we have a new country star. She got to sing at the Horseshoe Club, Friday after Halloween.

Every year she can come up with a different look and no one knows who she is. I think Doc just shakes his head, she’s not boring.
Thank You
Barry Canupp and the Parade Committee wants to thank everyone that participated in our Christmas Parade. And thank you all that came out and supported us. We hope you had a really great time. Did you notice that we had more floats than last year. Thank you to all of you that took the time making one. I hope you come back with your imagination next year, we loved them.
Float Winners

The Christmas Parade will be Dec. 1 next year. Please put it on your calender. It’s always the first Sunday in December at 3 p.m.
Festival Of Lights
We had a real nice program afterward. The Festival of Lights was held in the First Baptist Church at 4 p.m. and our group seems to be growing.
We would like to thank Sheila Robinson for playing the piano, and to Steve Robinson for doing the sound system. Vickie McKee for her beautiful voice. Pastor Brian Bishop did the Devotion. Pastor Allen McKee had the Benediction. Spencer Ledford from Jacob’s Well had the Invocation. Ailene Ashe was the MC, and presented D.A. McCloud as our Parade Marshall. I introduced Rev. Donna Eidson, the new Methodist Preacher.
Christmas Party
Last Saturday, Chuck and I went to Philippi Fire Department Christmas Party. After filling up on steak and baked potato, salad and dessert, we played Chinese Auction.
I couldn’t help myself but I had to take Micheal Walden’s blanket from him, he tried to hide it behind his back but I was watching him. I don’t know why I did it, cause I really knew Chuck was probably going to do the same thing, since he was number one, well guess what he’s getting for Christmas.
We sat with Lee and Michelle Brannon, and Abby and Olivia. JT Vinson, Kathy, and Danny were there, along with Judy and Charlie Gill. Last year he imitated Elvis, but didn’t sing this year. Dennis Frost is the fire chief, and gets his crew to work with him in putting on this event every year, so thanks for having us.
More Dinners
This Friday we are going to yet another dinner. And then Tuesday is yet another. And I’m trying to diet. Oh my!
Deaver is hosting Friday’s and his cooks are great, and so much food. Tuesday, Barry’s cooking for us.
Dieting Reverses
I’ve been living off of chicken noodle soup all week, well for two weeks. One pound a day is not enough. One morning you get on the scale and you’ve lost one pound. I come home from work and have gained two pounds. And haven’t had any food. What gives. Tonight I put new batteries in the scale. It didn’t work, still a gain. I’ll see how it comes out at the end of the holidays.
Collecting Gifts
I’m collecting gifts for a hospice group to give out at the nursing home. So if you want to contribute just bring your gifts to my shop. But the party’s Dec. 13 at 2:30 p.m. at Ellen Sager so we don’t have very long to collect. You can give things like puzzles, twin sheets, powders, purses, CDs, long beads, lotions, just use your imagination. Thanks. Jenny Crocker is the coordinator for this from Hospice.
Sympathy
I want to send my sympathy out to William Blacks’ family. He was just 19 years old and graduated this year from Union County High. He passed away on Nov. 24. If you would like to help this family with funeral expenses you can contact Lockhart First Baptist Church.

Weather
It was 76 degrees today (Tuesday). Wonderful!
Some people in my place was talking about the occasional snows that come here. I told them that I never had a Christmas without snow. It was a way of life and I didn’t think there was anything different. I lived that way for 30 some years.
It was always beautiful to wake up and see fresh snow without any tracks and just hanging on the trees. Even if it was still dark outside the snow glowed with the moon shining on it. We dressed for it, drove in it, it was just our way of life, and very seldom did we get to stop for it. Unless it was extreme.
Now I moved into the Sunshine State of warm weather, and really enjoy the warm days. I’ll just live with my memories.

Cure For Cursing
Joan’s parrot was always cursing, so she asked the vet how she could stop it.
“Every time the bird swears, put it in the freezer for 15 seconds,” he advised.
The next time the parrot swore, Joan did as the vet said.
When she opened the freezer door to release the parrot, it was very contrite.
“I’m sorry for the bad language and it will never happen again,” it said. “By the way, what did the chicken do?”
