UNION — Union County High School will host a play based on a beloved children’s book, and children will have an opportunity to spend time with their favorite characters before the show.

The UCHS Theatre Department will present Winnie-The-Pooh at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 in the UCHS Cafetorium.

Children and parents might want to arrive early, however, as a “Party With Pooh” will begin at 6 p.m. For the price of admission to the play, children can also participate in a party with the costumed cast members, have photos made and placed on a CD, enjoy snacks and then see the performance at 7 p.m.

The production will feature a cast of more than 20 UCHS GT Drama students, including Trey Smith, Bess Lawson, Brittany Moore, Jessie Cantrell, Madi Gardin, Benjamin Byrd, Tayshon Smith, Jacob Gault, Lily Kearse, Matt Haney, Blayke Lawson, Ashley Peterson, Zyquan Henderson, Alex Heatherly, Connor Randall, Tatiana Ferguson, Madison Lawson, Taylor Garrett, Reid Bailey, Abby Kingsmore and Dylan Boyd.

The play — by Kristin Sergel — is based on the original book by A.A. Milne. The story centers around Christopher Robin’s “tubby little cubby” Winnie-the-Pooh, who would like to drift peacefully through life, humming tunes and stopping frequently to eat.

However, he finds himself involved in all sorts of frantic adventures, assisted by friends such as Eeyore, Piglet, Rabbit, Kanga and Roo. Pooh’s intentions are always good, but his passion for honey continues to get him into trouble.

Advance tickets are available at the Union County Arts Council and UCHS.
