Last reminder of our Christmas Parade. This Sunday, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m.

If you want to be in the parade, the line up starts at the Lockhart School on Lockhart Drive. Contest for the floats will start at 1:30 p.m.

Festival of Lights will follow at the First Baptist Church on Mill Street.

All vendors need to start setting up by 1:30 p.m., Barry or Jeannie will help you with your spot. Pacolet Milliken will be giving free cake away around the park so check it out, also.

Angels

It’s not too late if you want an Angel to go on the wall at the old mill site, in memory of your loved ones. It’s $20 for the first time, and $10 each year after for upkeep.

Jacob’s Well

Jacob’s Well will be having a grand opening Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is at the old Hope Hospital.

Brenda Jenkins and I were invited Wednesday for a tour of the facilities to see what has been done and what the future plans are. It’s really remarkable. You need to see and feel the love that has been put into this Mission.

If you want to know more, I believe they are going to speak at the Festival of Lights, Sunday, and will explain all it is about. You will be like me and find it most interesting. Read Matthew 25:35-4c. I believe that is what they are structuring this from.

Gifts For The Elderly

I have been given a Christmas box to have help filling with gifts for the elderly at the Nursing Home.

On Dec. 13 Medihome Hospice will be giving a Christmas party for the residents of Ellen Sagar Nursing Home. You are welcome to come and help celebrate. It starts at 2 p.m. There will be refreshments, and happy faces.

Some of the things you could contribute are: bath items, notebooks, purses, pajamas,pens, lipsticks, lip gloss, batteries, Bible on tape, blankets, board games, tissues, books, coloring books, word search, socks, beads, shampoo, t shirts, twin sheets and the list goes on.

I have one Christmas box up in the shop. I know I don’t have long to collect these things but I hope you all will try to help me. You can also contact Jenny Crocker, co-ordinator for Medihome Hospice, at 427-8322 or 426-3646.

Cookbooks

Anita Montgomery and the ladies of Wesley Chapel Church are selling cookbooks with favorite recipes for $12 and if you want one you may call me. I have left mine at the beauty shop in case you want to look at it.

Why the beauty shop? As a lot of you know by now, I’ll probably just read it instead of cooking. I did use my stove for Thanksgiving, that might make twice this year. I sure am glad they invented microwaves and TV dinners. But anyway I love recipe books.

To be honest I used to love to find new recipes and try them on my family, and if they liked it then it would go on the menu. In my past I could have worn a stove out, but now I can sell a 10-year-old stove for new. One good thing, I can save on groceries.

A Loving Deed

I forgot a very important, unselfish and God loving thing from last week’s newsletter. The members of Lockhart Church of God passed out boxes of food to families that they felt like making the holidays a little lighter and easier for them. The families that I knew of were so appreciative of them and want to say thank you very much for such a loving deed.

Visits

Gerone and Toostie went to New Orleans with the Spartanburg Stroller Group and had a ball. Doris, Nick and Wyatt were at Nancy and Roger’s from Charleston for the Thanksgiving weekend. We had a nice short visit. Laura Dabbs, Sherry, Tim and Zack Turner went to Ohio to spend Thanksgiving with Ethan, who is now stationed there.

Don West want you all to know that he’s back from a long vacation in Florida, and is back to work painting houses.

Surprised

Chuck was in the shop the other day, reading one of the magazines and commented that the article said you could get a hooker for Christmas. I exclaimed — a prostitute? He laughed because he was reading Hunting and Fishing in S.C. It is some kind of new hook for fishing, and it’s call a Hooker. Well, it was cute at the time.

He needs to read all about deer hunting, the book should tell him you can’t shoot one sitting in the living room in your recliner.

Bill McCloud is in the hospital very sick, and needs all of your prayers.
