UNION — An estimated 1,400 people filled Main St. between the hours of 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday for an annual Halloween Downtown celebration.

Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Torance Inman said the crowd was not the largest that ever attended the celebration, but it was close.

Inman said he and the rest of the chamber appreciate the downtown merchants who participated in this event by decorating, dressing up and having plenty of candy for the children.

Inman also said that he looks forward to next year’s event, for which the chamber will partner with the Union County Recration Department and others to host a full blown fall festival, complete with games, costume contests and a pumpkin carving contest.

I remember the fun at Halloween when our parents would park on Main St. & we would trick or treat.

That was quite a while back but still one of my many memories of growing up in Union. Union will always be my home.
