WHITMIRE — Donald “Duck” Addis, head football coach and athletic director at Whitmire High School, has been named to the coaching staff of the North-South All Star Football Game.

Addis, a Jonesville native, will coach linebackers for the North team after being selected by the South Carolina Coaches Association.

“It’s an honor to be chosen to coach in the game,” said Addis. “There are many deserving coaches and to be selected is very humbling.”

Addis will join a staff of six coaches including Will Young of Greer, Louie Alexander of Mid-Carolina and Joe Montgomery of Rock Hill. Next week the coaches will meet to decide on players for the North team and Addis said it’s a duty that the staff is not taking lightly.

“We have been viewing film of nominated players for six weeks now,” said Addis. “We’ll select 44 players to make up the North Team and we will definitely have some talent.”

Addis will proudly represent Whitmire in the All Star game which will take place on Dec. 8 at Myrtle Beach High School.

“It is always an honor for a school to have a player or coach represented in the game,” said Addis. “It sheds a positive light on our school and on the community.”
