TODAY

JAMES CHAPEL BAPTIST CHURCH, 527 Pinckney St., Carlisle, S.C., will celebrate their annual Women’s Day Conference from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Breakfast will be served. The theme will be be “Women, we can turn it all around!” The keynote speaker will be Ministry Mary Hooker from Carlisle Christian Fellowship, Carlisle, S.C. On Sunday, Oct. 21 at the 11:30 a.m. service, the guest speaker will be Laquita Griffin, the co-pastor from Mitchell Chapel Christian Church, Union, S.C. Special soloist Sister Denise Wiley from Selma Baptist Church, Pacolet, S.C. will perform. Please come join us. T.A. Moore, Pastor.

WESLEY CHAPEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH YOUTH will be having a fundraiser dinner at noon. There will be BBQ chicken leg quarters, rolls, potato salad and baked beans. Desserts will be extra. Proceeds will be used to help the youth go on Spiritual Life Retreats.

OCTOBER 21

FRIENDSHIP BAPTIST CHURCH under the leadership of the Rev. Michael A. Glenn, will celebrate its annual observance of Woman’s Day at 11 a.m. The Rev. Shirley Sims Gray, Associate Minister of Majority Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker. Friendship Baptist Church, located at 250 Morningside Drive, has 11 a.m. worship services every Sunday with Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. For more information call 864-576-6285.

GILEAD BAPTIST CHURCH’S FALL REVIVAL will be held Oct. 21 through Oct. 24. Sunday morning service will be at 11 a.m. and the Sunday evening service at 5:30 p.m. Night services will be held at 6:30 p.m. There will be inspirational singing by musicians and choirs from area churches and evangelistic preaching by various pastors from Union County. The church is located at 748 Gaffney Highway, Jonesville.

BEATY’S CHAPEL YOUTH CHOIR will have third anniversary at 2 p.m. at Beaty’s Chapel Church. All youth choirs are invited. Rev. Stephen Y. Brown is pastor.

THE YOUTH MINISTRY OF THE NEW EMANUEL CHAPEL would like to invite you to our annual “Get Crunk for Christ” Praise Celebration. We are asking that all youth choirs, praise dancers, soloist, groups, and all other ministries to come out. This celebration will take place at 2:30 p.m. at the Old Jonesville High School Auditorium. BETHEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH will celebrate their 110th Anniversary this year with a Homecoming Celebration. Rev. Merritt Wentz will be the speaker for the 11 a.m. worship service. MONARCH BAPTIST CHURCH will hold a Men’s Day Program at 2:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Master Sterling Farr of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Pacolet. Let us all get ready to come out and support the men.

OCTOBER 27

FAIRVIEW BAPTIST CHURCH, 763 Neal Shoals Road, Union, will hold its annual Fall Festival at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to come out and join us for fun and treats for all ages.

MAPLE RIDGE BAPTIST CHURCH will host a Health Fair given by the Missionary of the Maple Ridge Baptist Church. Sheriff David Taylor, volunteer firefighters, health care employees, and more will be here to assist you and healthy food will be served.

OCTOBER 28

GALILEE BAPTIST CHURCH in the Sedalia Community will have cornerstone laying and dedication services at 3 p.m. with Dr. Bryant Cheek, pastor of Springfield Baptist Church, Laurens, and president of the S.C. Baptist Congress of Christian Education delivering the sermon. The public is invited. Rev. Malachi Rodgers Sr., Pastor of the Galilee Baptist Church.

THE PASTOR PARISH RELATIONS COMMITTEE will hold Pastor Appreciation Covered Dish Dinner for the Rev. Kevin Dalton at 12:30 p.m. in Buffalo United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. The public is invited, come bring your dish and join us.

THE THOMAS CHAPEL AME CHURCH FAMILY will have a Friends and Family Day Program at 2:30 p.m. The speaker will be Rev. Joseph R. Brown, pastor of Pleasant Grove AME Church. Dr. Elijah Sutton, Pastor.

HEBRON BAPTIST CHURCH will be observing High Attendance Day. Sunday School will be at 10 a.m. and Morning Worship at 11 a.m. with covered dish meal to follow in the church social hall. ANTIOCH AME CHURCH will have a one-day revival at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Anthony Washington from Jeter Chapel AME Church will be the speaker. Rev. Ethel Boozer, Pastor.

OCTOBER 31

BETHEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH will be having a Trunk or Treat starting at 6 p.m. There will be lots of candy and fun for everyone.

Also, the Children/Youth will have two community service events going on as well. The first is called Sight Night, so when you come out for Halloween fun bring your unwanted glasses (all kinds, even sunglasses). These can be for adults or children. The glasses will then be repaired and hand-delivered to adults and children in need in developing countries.

The second event we will have is The Coats of Many Colors. This is a coat collection for the nursing homes, children’s hospital and clothing ministry. Just bring your slightly used coats (heavy or light) to be distributed throughout Union County. We just want to start making the holidays a little easier for those less fortunate.

THE BUFFALO BAPTIST CHURCH FALL FESTIVAL will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. There will be games, a giant slide, bingo, door prizes, cake walk, hot dogs, and Trunk or Treat. Event times are:

• Hot Dogs — 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

• Games — 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

• Bingo — 6 p.m.

• Cake Walk — 6:30 p.m.

NOVEMBER 3

THE 142nd ANNUAL SESSION OF THE TYGER RIVER BAPTIST ASSOCIATION will be held at New Liberty Baptist Church in Fountain Inn at 10 a.m. The Rev. Michael A. Glenn is Moderator.

NOVEMBER 4

THE MALE CHOIR OF FRIENDSHIP BAPTIST CHURCH, 250 Morningside Drive, Spartanburg, will present a Fall Gospel Concert at 4 p.m. The public is invited. The Rev. Michael A. Glenn is Pastor.

BETHLEHEM UNITED METHODIST CHURCH will serve Sunday dinner from noon-until. The menu will include fried chicken, roast beef, steak and gravy, creamed potatoes, rice and gravy, macaroni pie, green beans, lima beans, slaw, rolls, tea, and dessert. Cost is $8. Call 427-1622 for takeouts (ready by 11:45 a.m.).

NOVEMBER 5

PACOLET RIVER BAPTIST ASSOCIATION will observe World Day of Prayer at the Baptist Center on Lovers Lane Road at 7 p.m. Minsister Brenda Byrd, President.

NOVEMBER 7

THE LAURA FARR SUNDAY SCHOOL OF WESLEY CHAPEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH will have their Poor Man’s Supper at 5:30 p.m. Menu will consist of vegetable soup, sandwiches, cornbread, and tea. Desserts extra. Guest singer will be Mr. Jonathan Moss with music to begin at 6:15 p.m. For takeouts call 427-5319. Everyone is invited and everyone is welcome.

NOVEMBER 22

OAKBROOK COMMUNITY CHURCH will provide a community Thanksgiving meal on Thanksgiving Day from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The meal will be served at the church which is located at 580 Alman St. in Jonesville. Eat in or carry out.

DECEMBER 8

ST. PAUL’S BAPTIST CHURCH will sponsor a trip to see the play “The Man Called Jesus.” For more information call 426-7790 or 427-0116.

DECEMBER 15

THE CHOSEN FEW INC. (MARY OWENS) will present a gospel play entitled “God Can Turn It Around” at 5 p.m. at the Head Start Center (old Jonesville Elementary School) near the Alman Street Apartments on Alman Street in Jonesville. For more information contact Mary Owens or any of the cast members.

ONGOING

A MOMS IN PRAYER group is now meeting on Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. in the Family Ministry Center of Bethel United Methodist Church, 1705 Lockhart Highway. All interested persons are invited to participate.

THE MISSIONARY AUXILIARY OF THE PACOLET RIVER BAPTIST ASSOCIATION has opened an Emergency Food Pantry in the rear (annex) of the town hall in Jonesville. The pantry is open Friday from 9:30 a.m. to noon and other times by calling the numbers posted on the sign at the entrance of the annex. Please bring identification and proof residence. Rev.
