UNION — The fair is here!

Anyone who is near the Union County Fairgrounds this week will hear the sounds of elephants, live music and children screaming with delight from rides such as “The Spider,” “Spin Out,” or “Lolita Express.”

Smells of funnel cakes, sausage dogs, french fries and boiled peanuts fill the air. The bright lights and cool fall air complete Union County’s much loved tradition of the Union County Agricultural Fair.

The 104th annual Union County Agricultural Fair opened Tuesday night, and the entire county is buzzing about attractions such as Elephant Encounter and Nick’s Kids Show. Agricultural, art and livestock exhibits continue to be the heart of the fair, among 75 other exhibit booths sponsored by local businesses and organizations.

Rolling cash drawings and live entertainment are offered each night of the fair, with gates opening at 3 p.m. on Friday and at Noon on Saturday.

The first-ever Union County Fair Beauty Pageant will be held at noon Saturday, followed by exhibitions from Ultimate Rhythm Dance Company and Union Karate Center. A full card of pro wrestling will also be featured at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Results from agricultural competitions at this year’s fair are as follow:
