UNION — A collision between two cars Thursday morning resulted in the driver of one vehicle being taken to the hospital and the driver of the other vehicle being charged with causing the accident.

Lance Corp. Brent Kelly, public information officer for the S.C. Highway Patrol, said the accident occurred around 7:05 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 176 and LSP Drive.

Kelly said a 2004 Honda was traveling north on U.S. 176 when it struck a 1995 GEO that was pulling onto the highway from LSP Drive.

The Honda was driven by Latoya Gilbert, 27, of Gaffney. Kelly said Gilbert was transported to Wallace Thomson Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the GEO was Joseph Edwards, 40, of Union. Kelly said Edwards was not injured, but was charged with failure to yield the right of way.
