JONESVILLE — The Town of Jonesville is gearing up for a family-friendly celebration to be held this Saturday.
The 13th annual Jonesville Town Festival will take place on Main Street in Jonesville from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Festival committee member Sherry Smith said there will be plenty to do, especially for younger festival goers.
“Everybody always says the kids need more to do,” Smith said. “That’s what we tried to do this year — gear it more toward the kids with things like the petting zoo, games and pony rides.”
Children’s activities will also include inflatables, a trackless train, gem mining and Skipper the Clown. Skipper will provide balloon animals and face painting from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The festival will also provide plenty to occupy adults as well with the festival’s signature car and bike shows, all-day live entertainment, food and more than 30 vendors.
The festival will open at 11 a.m. with a prayer by the Rev. James Williams and the singing of the national anthem. Musical entertainment will then kick off on stage with the following line-up:
- 11 a.m. — Of All Trades
- Noon — Wendy Lawson
- 1 p.m. — Kayla Rochester
- 2 p.m. — Eddie Lawson Band
- 3 p.m. — Brittany Pridemore
- 4 p.m. — Snake Doctors
- 5 p.m. — Due South
The car and bike show will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include a 50/50 raffle. A recliner and picture donated by Farmers Furniture will also be raffled at the festival, and a .308 Ruger American rifle will be raffled at 6 p.m. Profits from the raffles will go toward festival costs.
In addition to food and craft vendors, Smith said various groups will be on hand to provide information. Lockhart Power will be in attendance celebrating its 100th anniversary and providing cake. Another group will allow festival goers who are not registered to vote the opportunity to do so at the festival. The Blood Mobile will also be at the festival accepting donations, and various free health screenings will be available from other groups.
“It seems like we really do have a little bit of everything this year,” Smith said.
