UNION — A Union man was arrested Friday for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in a bathroom the previous weekend.

Leontray Trarzino Jeter, 19, 176 Joe Walker Road, was charged by the Union Public Safety Department with criminal sexual conduct with a minor under 16 years of age.

The incident report states the victim went to the public safety department on Sept. 9 to report a sexual assault that had just happened at a residence in the Mill Hill area of Union.

The victim said a friend had asked her to go with her to a house on the Mill Hill to see her boyfriend and another boy. She said they were all sitting around when they heard a knock on the door and they all ran into the bathroom because they were scared of who might be at the door. After few minutes the victim said her friend and her boyfriend left leaving her and the other male alone in the bathroom.

When she tried to leave, the victim said the male pushed her up against the bathroom wall and forced himself on her.

The victim said she got away from her attacker, grabbed her cell phone and ran out of the room. She said she then told her friend about what had happened, but the friend said she did not want to get in the middle of the situation.

The victim said she then called another friend who was at another residence visiting her boyfriend and told her that she’d been sexually assaulted. The report stated the other friend and her boyfriend then picked up the victim near Woodlawn Avenue and took her to the public safety department.

The report stated that the victim did not know the address of the house where she was assaulted, only that it was brown.

Written statements were taken from the victim and the case turned over to investigators.

The man charged with sexually assaulting the victim was later identified as Jeter. He was taken into custody on Friday.

Criminal Domestic Violence

A Union man was arrested Sunday for allegedly hitting a woman and pulling her hair.

Michael Anthony Dineen, 33, 228 Long Twelve St., was charged by the public safety department with criminal domestic violence second offense.

The incident report stated that two officers were dispatched to Dineen’s residence in reference to a domestic dispute. They were advised by dispatch that the complainant had called 911 saying Dineen was assaulting the victim at his residence.

When they arrived, officers could hear a man shouting and screaming from inside the house. As they were knocking on the front door, the victim walked up to them.

The victim said Dineen had hit her in the back of her head, pulled her hair, and tried to pull her to the floor. She said Dineen went into the living room and started throwing computer cards at her and her daughter. When Dineen let her go, the woman ran out the back door because she feared for her life and safety. She said Dineen had threatened to hurt her if she called the police. The victim said she called the complainant and asked her to call 911.

Officers checked the victim for any visible injuries but could not find any.

The victim told the officers that Dineen had no weapons in his home except for knives.

Officers then knocked on the front door and asked Dineen to open it, but he refused. The officers then waited for another officer to arrive and assist them. After he arrived, the third officer attempted to speak with Dineen, but he refused to answer.

The first officers then entered the house through the back door and looked for Dineen, only to find he’d fled. An officer then contacted the Union County Sheriff’s Office and requested a K-9 unit be dispatched to the scene.

When the deputies arrived, they took the dog to the back door of Dineen’s home to begin the search. The dog led them to the edge of the woods and then down a ditch where they found Dineen.

As officers were placing him under arrest, they smelled alcohol coming from Dineen who was refusing to answer their questions. One officer then asked for EMS to be dispatched to the scene and transport Dineen to Wallace Thomson Hospital to obtain a blood alcohol concentration to make sure he was not in any danger.

The emergency room staff took a sample of Dineen’s blood with his permission. He was then released from the hospital and taken to jail.

Marijuana Distribution

A Union woman ended up in jail for allegedly selling marijuana to a police informant in April.

Virginia Leigh Diamond, 45, 329 Barnado Road, is charged by the public safety department with distribution of marijuana.

The warrant for Diamond’s arrest stated that on April 13 she sold a quantity of marijuana to confidential informant in exchange for funds provided by the public safety department.

Diamond was arrested Saturday.

Incidents

The following incidents are being investigated by the public safety department.

Assault

A possible case of assault is being investigated by the public safety department, even though the victim claims he was injured in a fall.

The incident report states an officer was dispatched Sunday afternoon the intersection of Gage Avenue and Gault Avenue in reference to a possible stabbing. When he arrived, the officer found the victim limping toward Gault Avenue from Gage Avenue. He stopped the victim and advised him to lean against his patrol car.

As he interviewed the victim the officer noticed he was bleeding from a cut on his back and a cut on his leg. The officer then asked the victim what had happened and was told that he’d fell. The officer photographed the victim’s injuries and continued to ask him what had happened, but the victim continued to insist he’d fell.

In addition to finding him uncooperative, the officer also noticed the victim was intoxicated.

EMS was dispatched to the scene and, after examining him, transported the victim to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Burglary

Parts from two automobiles were the targets of a thief or thieves who broke into a storage building sometime between Sept. 3

The incident report stated that an officer was called to 405 S. Church St. Friday afternoon in reference to a possible burglary in progress.

The owner told the officer that she’d received a phone call from a neighbor who told her to call the police because someone was inside her storage building stealing from her. Accompanied by the officer, the victim then opened the storage building and discovered the front grill, front bumper and gas tank were missing from a 1954 Chevrolet station wagon. She also noticed a sun visor was missing from a 1948 Chevrolet. Also missing were non-precious metal items.

The value of the stolen items was estimated at $1,500.

The owner said when she previously visited her property on Sept. 3 and nothing was missing from the building, although she said she did see where someone had tried to pry open the back window. She said she had the window secured.

The officer, however, noticed that the thief or thieves had used the back window and the side door to enter the building.

A search of the property by the owner turned up some of the metal items in a grassy area behind the building. The items were photographed by an investigator then turned back over to the owner.

Arrests

The following person was arrested by the public safety department.

Jameshia Monique Jones, 28, 1111 Lakeside Drive, #22C, Union, was charged Sunday with disorderly conduct.
