Families and individuals in need and organizations that serve them are invited to have those needs met during a local church’s giveaway of clothing and household items Saturday morning.

Rosena Bell, director of Life Changing Ministry’s clothing ministry, announced Thursday that the church, located at 501 Hart St. Union, will be holding a giveaway of clothing and household and other items from 8 a.m.-noon Saturday.

“We have clothes and we have shoes for men, women and children, and we have baby clothes,” Bell said. “We have a whole rack of pocketbooks of all kinds and colors. We also have household goods like curtains, bedding and kitchen items like pots and pans. We also have a computer and printer. We also have small furniture like coffee tables and lamps.”

Bell said everything donated to the clothing ministry will be placed on tables in the church parking lot for those who attend to choose from.

Life Changing Ministry was established by Bell’s brother, the Rev. John Henderson, and his wife, Laurie, in 1999. The clothing ministry is part of the church’s effort to minister to the spiritual needs of the community by ministering to its material needs.

Unlike some programs, Bell said no proof of income level or even residence in Union County is required to receive the items the church will be giving away Saturday.

“Everybody is welcome,” Bell said. “We just want to be a blessing to the community.”

Bell said that organizations that serve the needy are also welcome to come to the giveaway and pick up clothing and any other items they might need. She said there is no limit on what families and individuals in need and the organization that serves them can take away from the ministry.

In addition to Saturday’s giveaway, Bell said the 11-member clothing ministry team also delivers boxes of clothing to local nursing homes. She said the clothing ministry is always open and that anyone in need of its services can call 864-699-9304 and a ministry team member will meet them at the church to assist them.

Life Changing Ministry also has a a food ministry that distributes boxes of food to as many as 15 needy families several times a year. The church also has a utility ministry and provides free budget counseling.

Worship services at Life Changing Ministry are held at 10 a.m. Sunday and at 6 p.m. Wednesday. For more information on the church, call 429-8339.
