The Union County High School gymnasium was teeming with basketball players on Friday as the Jacket camp wrapped up. Over the course of the week, future and current Yellow Jackets took to the hard wood to sharpen their skills with approximately 30 athletes finishing the camp. The week was capped off with one on ones, five on fives and individual awards being handed out.
Rising ninth grader Trey Eison received the Most Valuable Camper Award and was also the Hot Shot Winner and the Free Throw Winner.
The Hustle award went to Demarcus Brown and Noah Voiselle was selected for the Coach’s Award.
Eison said that he was appreciative of the honors.
“It was unexpected,” he said. “I just try to play hard and expect no reward, but it meant a lot to me.”
Eison said he was also thankful for the opportunity to begin working with his future coaches this week. “I’ll be playing for them soon, so it was good to get a chance to get to know them.”
Union County High Basketball Coach Will Hickson headed up the camp and said that he was pleased with it’s success.
“We had a good week,” said Hickson. “We saw a lot of good, young talent from Lockhart, Jonesville and Union and are looking forward to seeing how they progress to become future Yellow Jackets.”
