Organizers of “Carolina Christmas” say they present the show in hopes others will pause to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.

In its fourth year, “Carolina Christmas” will be presented on Sunday, Nov. 25 at 6 p.m. in the Lockhart First Baptist Family Life Center (behind Jordan's Hot Spot on Highway 9.) Organizers said this year's program, as in the past, promises to be a jubilant celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.

Carolina Christmas is produced and arranged by Brian Fowler of Lockhart First Baptist Church. The program features the church's adult choir, along with local and neighboring talent such as Southern Gospel recording artists The Childers, The Riverside Boys and musical recording artist Tony Kennedy on the saxophone and harmonica.

The musical takes the audience through the time before Jesus' birth and continues through to the resurrection.

“A Carolina Christmas” started three years ago when First Baptist pastor the Rev. Ben Hill asked Tom Fowler to put together a Christmas musical and each year it has grown bigger and better. The second year, Tommy and his son, Brian, decided to combine talent from not only within their church but from a number of different surrounding towns.

“There is a lot of dedicated time, thought and prayer that goes into getting the production ready,” Tom Fowler said. “But, what a blessing to feel the spirit of the Christmas season overflowing from the entertainers into the congregation and then throughout the community.”

There was such a good turnout in 2005 that the presentation had to be moved to a bigger facility in order to accommodate the crowd in 2006.

“It is the desire of First Baptist Church-Lockhart to reach out to you and your family, offering you the opportunity to share in this ‘spirit filled,' program,” Fowler said.

The public is invited. No ticket is required for admission. A love offering benefiting missions will be taken.
