Crime Report

The Union Public Safety Department reported the following arrests:

— Matthew Francis Scarito, 31, of 218 Camelot Street, Spartanburg, was charged with petit larceny around 11:20 a.m. on Feb. 12. According to the incident report, officers were dispatched to Union OB/GYN, located at 319 West South Street, about an employee who was missing a Samsug Galaxy cell phone from her office. After employees said Scarito was the only person who had been in the area where the cell phone was left on a desk, officers searched Scarito and his vehicle, and the phone was found in the vehicle. Scarito was transported to Union County Jail.

— Damion Lee Farr, 26, of 125 Chambers Avenue, Union, was charged with driving under suspension, attempted hit and run and unattended vehicle around 10:10 p.m. on Feb. 12.

The Union Public Safety Department reported the following incident:

— A resident of Hicks Street, Union, reported on Feb. 12 that the tag was stolen from his vehicle sometime between Jan. 20 and Feb. 12. He was advised to make the DMV aware of the situation, and the tag number was entered into NCIC.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests:

— Christopher Charles Nave, 26, of 120 Nave Road, Union, and Andrew Reid Jennings, 38, of 805 Webber Lake Road, Union, were each charged with narcotic violations around 3:45 p.m. on Feb. 12. According to the incident report, Nave was driving a vehicle of which Jennings was a passenger, and officers stopped the vehicle after seeing that Jennings was not wearing a seat belt. The report states that Nave was very nervous and unable to locate the vehicle registration or insurance information. Both Nave and Jennings were asked to empty their pockets, and Nave had a Schedule IV narcotic in his possession while Jennings had a Schedule II narcotic in his. Nave and Jennings were transported to Union County Jail.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incident:

— An employee of Kelly One Stop, located at 1508 Jonesville Lockhart Highway, Jonesville, reported on Feb. 12 that a U.S. Treasury check in the amount of $625 was cashed in the store on Jan. 27, and the check came back from the bank as a bad check. A photo copy of the check was turned over to investigations.
