BUFFALO — A Buffalo resident was charged with two counts of attempted murder Sunday morning.
At approximately 1:20 a.m. Sunday, May 19, Union County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to 234 Buffalo St., Buffalo, in reference to a subject shooting at two people walking down the street in the community. Upon arrival, deputies attempted to locate Donald Fred Harris Jr. and deputies noticed the front door on his residence being opened and Harris starting to exit the residence.
Harris then came out and pointed a hand gun at the deputy, causing the officer to seek protective cover. He then went back in the residence and closed the door as to barricade himself in the house. Harris came back out of the house a second time and pointed the handgun at the deputies, then retreated back into the residence again.
Deputies then began to give loud verbal commands to Harris to put the weapon down and come outside and surrender. After a period of time, Mr. Harris came back out onto the front porch and surrendered to deputies without further incident.
Harris, Jr. 50, was charged with two counts of attempted murder for shooting at two females as they walked down Buffalo Street, and two counts of pointing and presenting a firearm. Harris was also charged with use of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol and received a county ordinance summons for damaging a county road sign.
Harris remains in jail on a $72,000.00 bond.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office also reported the following arrests:
— Jevon Terrell Jefferies, 35, of 234 Goldville Road, Whitmire, was charged with driving under the influence around 2:20 a.m. on May 20.
— Tracy Littlejohn Gregory, 32, of 203 3rd St., Union, was charged with trespassing around 5:40 p.m. on May 17.
— Cedric Edward Murphy, 22, of 406 Textile Road, Spartanburg, was charged with driving under the influence and simple possession of marijuana around 5 a.m. on May 18. According to the incident report, Murphy had five grams of a green, leafy substance in his vehicle during a traffic stop during which he declined any field sobriety test.
— Sterling Farr, Jr., 31, of 140 Brown Mill Road, Pacolet, was charged with public drunk around 5 a.m. on May 18. According to the incident report, Farr was a passenger in a car during a traffic stop.
— Richard Dewayne Walls, 41, of 109 Magnolia Circle, Union, was charged with giving false information to law enforcement; Debra Stewart Campbell, 50, of 104 Mockingbird Road, Laurens, was charged with breach of peace; and Lance Alexander Walls, 17, of 4082 Wilson Town Road, Laurens, was charged with interfering with an arrest and burglary around 10:15 p.m. on May 18. According to the incident report, officers were looking for a missing juvenile who was reported to be with Lance Walls, and they responded to the residence of Richard Walls. Richard Walls told officers that both Lance and the juvenile had been there, but he did not know where they were at the time. Lance and the juvenile were found under Richard Walls’ house, and during the arrest, Debra Campbell pushed Lance Walls to the ground.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incident:
— A former resident of Rainbow Lane, Union, reported on May 17 that while moving out of her residence, she noticed a camera and a U.S. Army K-bar knife and sheath were missing. Missing items were valued at a total of $550.
The Union Public Safety Department reported the following arrests:
— Ashley Brooke Poole, 27, of 726 Rice Avenue, Union, was charged with two counts of assault and battery around 8:11 a.m. on May 17. According to arrest warrants, Poole scratched a woman on the neck and arm and pushed her to the ground while at her residence. Warrants say she also pushed a man in the chest.
— Jarron Dewilliams Brannon, 22, of 254 Mt. Joy Church Road, Jonesville, was charged with disorderly conduct around 1:50 p.m. on May 18. According to the arrest warrant, Brannon engaged in a physical altercation with a man while on the property of Union Housing Authority near Lipsey Street and Chambers Avenue in Union.
The Union Public Safety Department reported the following incidents:
— Officers responded to World Finance Company, located at 113 East Main St., Union, after a report that glass in the front door had been broken. An employee responded to the business and informed officers that no money is kept inside the business, but some people do stick payments through the doors after hours.
— A resident of Spring Street, Union, reported on May 17 that her residence was broken into while she and her family were on vacation for four days. Missing items included an HP computer and monitor, a Dynex 32-inch flat screen TV and a bottle of medicine. Officers observed that the point of entry was a broken window pane located in a bathroom.
