FOUR QUARTETS FROM THE PALMETTO STATESMEN BARBERSHOP CHORUS are ready to head out and sing to that special person. Every year the chorus sponsors the quartets, who go out around the Upstate and sing two Valentine Love songs to loved ones. They also present the recipient with a rose and a Valentines Card. They sing to men as well as women. They go to schools and sing to teachers, to nursing homes and places of business, as well as to the individuals home and nursing or retirement homes. The songs are sung in the Barbershop style which is one of only two uniquely American art forms (the other being Jazz). The harmony always evokes feelings of warmth and love. Several on the receiving end have called the Singing Valentine the most memorable Valentine ever. The number to call to schedule a Singing Valentine to be personally delivered by a quartet is: (864) 576-3734 The cost for the songs, rose and card is $45. Special arrangements can be made to sing more songs and/or to a larger group such as a group of employees. Valentines will be delivered on February 13 and 14.

The Palmetto Statesmen is a 501(c)3 Non Profit organization dedicated to keeping Barbershop Harmony alive, and to enrich the world through a cappella vocal harmony. Union County is sponsoring the Meansville Riley Water Company's application for a $350,000 grant through the South Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority. The grant would enable the company to install approximately 31,000 linear feet of new water main on eight different roadways and improve water quality. If requested to do so, should the county sponsor more such grant applications by other local water companies?
