JONESVILLE — Field Day events in Jonesville offered students in grades K-8 a passport to the world.

Jonesville Elementary/Middle School hosted its annual Field Day, and this year’s theme was “Passport to the World.” Each event represented a country; for example, “Olympic Torch Relay” (Greece), “Kangaroo Hop” (Australia), “Pasta Pull” (Italy), “Safari Throw Down” (Kenya), “Basic Training Run” and “Salute the Troops” (USA), “Hockey Shoot Out” (Canada), “Potato Sack Race” (Ireland), “Pastry Pile Up” (France), “Soccer Shoot Out” (England), and “Autobahn Race” (Germany).

“Field Day was a huge success and a ‘splash’ for everyone,” said Curriculum Coach Jan Carter, referring to events in which water was involved such as “Great Barrier Reef Sponge Relay” (Australia), “Fisherman’s Bucket Relay” (Alaska), and “Camel Watering Hole” (Saudi Arabia).

Carter also said the Field Day would not have been a success without PE teacher Jeri Stein — who Carter called “wonderful and talented.”

A canteen of refreshments was hosted by the Jonesville Elementary/Middle School PTO during Wednesday’s Field Day event.
