LANDRUM — A pair of timely hits propelled Lockhart Middle to a 5-5 tie with Landrum on Thursday night.
Landrum held a 3-0 lead through five innings, but Lockhart wouldn’t go away. The Red Devils loaded the bases in the top of the sixth and Dalton Vinson stroked a two-out double to left to drive in three runs to tie the game at 3-3.
Lockhart took a 5-3 lead in the sixth when Ryan Vaughan smacked a 2-RBI single but Landrum answered in the bottom of the inning with two runs of its own. The game was called before the seventh inning due to the two hour time limit resulting in a 5-5 stalemate.
Seth Parker pitched five innings and gave up just two hits for Lockhart.

Jonesville Middle School
Mistakes in the field cost Jonesville Middle on Thursday night and the result was a 17-7 loss to Campobello-Mabry Middle. The Wildcats received big hits from Hunter Blackwell, Bentley Burr and Hunter Davis but 14 fielding errors proved to be the difference maker.
Josh Wilburn took the loss for Jonesville.
“He threw strikes, he just couldn’t get any help from the defense,” Coach Chris Knox explained.
On Tuesday, the Wildcats picked up a 10-6 win over Mabry. Bentley Burr was the winning pitcher and also contributed a hit.
Brandon Thompson, Will Horlacher and Josh Wilburn each singled in the contest. Hunter Blackwell added a double.
Lockhart Middle will host Jonesville Middle on Monday at 5 p.m.
Softball
UNION — The Sims Middle School softball team picked up a 27-0 win over Jonesville Middle on Tuesday night.
