UNION — Hannah Sailors hurled seven innings of shutout softball on Thursday night to help the Lady Jackets to a 4-0 win over Nation Ford. The freshman right hander gave up just two hits with four strikeouts and three walks.

Sailors received plenty of help from the stout Jackets defense including an impressive double play in the seventh inning. Nation Ford snuck its second hit of the game past a diving Abby Allen but the senior shortstop eliminated the runner on the next play with a 6-4-3 putout and snagged a fly ball to end the game.

Allen doubled to right-center in the first inning and scored on CeCe Moorman’s double to left-center to give Union County the early 1-0 lead. Moorman sacrificed in the third to plate a run and Makaylah Plemmons RBI singled to give the Lady Jackets a 3-0 advantage. Tanijah Hunter laid down a perfect bunt in the fourth and Payton Martin contributed her second hit of the game to drive in Union County’s final run.
