When a military member is deployed, it really affects their entire family. My dad is currently in Kosova. I’m hold back tears every time I think about him I feel very sad. I find myself thinking a lot of questions, lie “what-if…”

My dad is a true hero. As I lie in bed at night, I think about: What if my dad never returns home? What if he dies and returns home to my mom and me in a wooden box? I have imagined my life without a dad. My family would fall apart, I would have a hard time controlling my anger, and I would have so many unanswered questions. It would be very rough to live without a family member.

All of my friends have their dads at home with them at Christmas, but I only have my mom. It is rough, but I try to be strong for my mom. My dad is a hero to me. If you know somebody that has a family member who is deployed, please respect them because they are “heroes in arms.”
