The Union Public Safety Department reported the following arrest:
— George Kenneth Gardin, 24, of 2433 Buffalo West Springs Highway, Buffalo, was charged with reckless driving, failure to stop for a blue light and narcotics violations around 12:20 p.m. on March 6. According to the incident report, an officer observed Gardin driving at a high rate of speed in front of Foster Park Elementary, and when he activated the blue lights, Gardin accelerated. The short chase ended when the officer observed Gardin — driving a yellow Mustang — attempt to hide in the parking lot of Spectra Coloring. Gardin had four pills — believed to be Lortab — on his person. He was transported to Union County Jail.
The Union Public Safety Department reported the following incident:
— The owner of a residence on Hodges Lane, Union, reported vandalism to the property on March 4. According to the incident report, the complainant evicted two tenants on March 1 and he allowed them to pick up their belongings on March 4. When he let them in, he walked through the home and noticed no damage. When he went back to lock up, he noticed the bathroom sink had been jerked from the wall, the kitchen sink piping had been pulled from the wall, there was a hole in the kitchen floor, all the blinds had been taken and the living room window had been damaged. The damage was photographed, and the case is still under investigation.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incidents:
— A resident of Hamm Street, Union, reported on March 6 that someone attempted to break into his vehicle by prying the sun roof open. Officers observed pry marks and some damage to the sun roof, and a report was sent to investigations.
— A resident of Adams Lake Road, Union, reported on March 6 that a fire safe was taken from his residence. The safe contained $400 in U.S. currency, numerous old coins, a $20 greenback and an unknown amount of currency in a blue bank bag belonging to the victim’s church. The total value of items missing is around $1,000. A report was sent to investigations.
