One thing we are promised and can count on forever is that Christ is always with those who are with Him. Where the future is concerned there are no certainties other than it will be here before you know it and, sooner or later, our future in this world will come to an end. The only way to face that reality without fear is by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Only when we do that is our future truly assured. REV. OGLESBY AND THE BETHESDAY BAPTIST CHURCH FAMILY will host New Year’s Eve Service from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The speaker will be Rev. Dr. Elijah Sutton, pastor of Thomas Chapel AME Church.

THE LAURA FARR SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS OF WESLEY CHAPEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH will have their Poor Man’s Supper at 5:30 p.m. On the menu will be pinto beans, stewed potatoes, cornbread, fatback, and tea. Desserts are extra. The meal will be a benefit for Kathy Farr Burgess. The guest singer will be Shon Morris. Music begins at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited, everyone is welcomed. THE COMMUNITY PRAYER MEETING Will be held at noon at the USC Union gazebo. All are invited to participate in a brief time of prayer for our community, state, and nation, and for the Church. You do not have to pray out loud to participate. Just come and join in silently if you like. If you can’t be at the gazebo, set aside some time during the day to pray for our community, state, and nation. All are welcome.

JANUARY 6

RICE CHAPEL AME ZION CHURCH will celebrate Family and Friends Day at 3 p.m. The speaker will be Rev. J.B. Robinson, pastor of Saint Matthew AME Zion Church of Whitmire. We are looking forward to make a joyful noise in the name of the Lord.

FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH will observe Epiphany or “Little Christmas,” which is a holy festival in the Roman Catholic, Anglican, Eastern, and other Christian churches. Originally it celebrated both the birth and the baptism of Jesus. Since the 300s, it has honored especially the meeting of the Three Wise Men with the infant Jesus.
