MOUNT PLEASANT — Betty Little Ward, 84, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, widow of Bentley D. Ward Jr., died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 in St. Andrews Church Mount Pleasant, 440 Whilden St. at 2 p.m. Interment will be Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 in All Saints Cemetery, Pawleys Island, SC at 11 a.m.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Mrs. Ward was born March 19, 1928 in Union, South Carolina, daughter of John M. and Ruby Westbrook Little. She began teaching in Raeford, N.C., she also taught at Pine Street Elementary School in Spartanburg, S.C. as well as Whitesides Elementary School in Mount Pleasant. She was the director and a teacher at St. Andrew’s Day School for over 30 years.

She is survived by her two daughters, Beverly Ward Albrecht (Will) of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. and Betsy Ward Truluck of Collierville, TN; brother, John M. Little, III (Ida) of Chester, S.C.; and four grandchildren, Caroline Albrecht, William Albrecht, Paul Truluck, and Mary Ward Truluck.
