Getting lost looking for Gestamp

5:30 Monday morning, I got up and ready for the day, did a few of my chores and out the door around 6, off to Union to wait for Chuck to get off of third shift. Well, guess who got lost on #176 trying to find Gestamp?

It was dark and I thought he said the second driveway, so I went to Standard Textile, then I went to the SCDOT and got turned around and back toward Union I went. The sign says Commerce Park, the second drive ended up where he parks his truck. If I hadn’t run into Frankie Campbell, Chuck and I would still be looking for each other. She told me where to park, where he comes out of the building.

Rental Car

So off we go to Spartanburg to finally pick up a rental so I can get my car fixed. They gave me a Jeep Compass, and I surely didn’t know how to get it in drive. I think I drove it in low for a ways and it made a terrible noise. I finally got the hang of it. They were bringing the cars in from Augusta, where they were there for the golf Masters. There was cars and people everywhere and hardly a place to park.

Gina and I were on our way to Spartanburg Wednesday and I received a call my car was finished. We were just in Union, so she followed me back to Spartanburg, and they had the car rented back out in a minute of me getting out of it. They let you get gas there and guess how much gas I used in the 3 days? $9. 95. Either I didn’t go anywhere or it got good gas mileage.

Tuesday evening we went to Lockhart Power for a meeting with the County Council. There was a nice turnout, mostly of Union people.

Racing Action

There will be a Bike Race and Car Showcase at the Union County Dragway at 2012 Santuc-Carlisle Highway, Saturday, May 7, at 10 a.m., (rain day, May 8), I think I saw it advertised in one of the papers. There will be games for kids, vendors, etc. Fun for the whole family $20 gate admission, kids 6-12 — $5, kids under 5 — free. Call 1-803-230-0425 for more information. Sounds like fun. I like to watch these bike races on TV, so I think in person would be better.

DNR is having a problem with where the boat ramp was going to be located. Too much wetland and afraid of flooding. So the county will find an alternate place for it. I heard that Senator Peeler is helping with this.

By now most of you know about Lockhart’s visitor, Dolly Parton’s neice, Heidi Lou. She came in on Friday, and got the grand tour, showing where her grandmother was born, and the Church of God, where her great-grandfather preached. Curtiss Hunter and Andrena Powell-Baker catered a dinner at the Power House, and Paul Inman showed a film and told the Power House history. Ailene made fudge and cake for appetizers to have in the morning before Jeff Bailey drove the church bus for everyone to ride for the tour. I was invited but I had to work instead, but I looked on Facebook and saw the activities.

A client recently brought her two cats to my husband’s veterinary clinic for their annual checkup. One was a small framed round tiger striped tabby, while the other was a long, sleek black cat. She watched closely as I put each on the scale.

“They weigh about the same,” I told her.

“That proves it!” she exclaimed. “Black does make you look slimmer. And stripes make you look fat.”

More Fashion

A man walks up to an attractive girl in a disco and asks, “Would you like to dance?”

“I wouldn’t dance with you if you were the last man on earth.”

“I don’t think you heard me correctly,” the man says. “I said, you look fat in those pants.”

I had to work extra late tonight and so I’ll say good night, since I am also trying to wash shop towels and get them dry sometime tonight so I can go to bed. It of course is after 11 p.m.. So again, good night and call at 1-864-545-6652.
