Having a ‘Diablo’ for dinner

Well I now can call me a “hot woman.” Gina and I went to Hardee’s and ate the Diablo, made with jalapeno and harbanaro peppers. If you can take the heat then try it. It had a real good taste, but it would have even been better if they would cook the jalapenos somewhat. It was buy one get one free, so what can I say. We did agree that Chuck could never eat one of these, nor would he want to. When we grill out hamburgers, we always grill jalapenos and he doesn’t want them on his sandwich.

In The Checkout Line

Speaking of Chuck, I ran into him at Walmart Monday, and I let him check out in front of me. The cashier, by mistake, put three of my canned goods on his bill by mistake, and believe me, Chuck told her real fast they were not his.

I told her that I read in the paper how someone will pay for someone else in line’s groceries just to be nice, and she said yes she’s had some of those people. So I told her and Chuck that I was going to put it in the paper that he made me pay for my own, and to top it off, he stood there and let me reach and put my groceries in my own buggy. What a gentleman. He knows that I love to give him a rough time.

Back To School

School is starting soon and I think the kids are ready to see what their old friends did over the summer. Some of our Lockhart students will be going to Union County High and some will venture out to Whitmire. Joey Haney is principal at Whitmire, he’s a former graduate of Lockhart, and he is making these young people feel welcomed. Lockhart is very proud of Joey, and he’ll take good care of our kids.

Rain

Welcome the rain!! Maybe I’ll stop seeing so many bare spots in my yard, and start seeing grass. The last time I cut the grass, it crunched under my feet and all I saw was dust. Oh there is a few weeds pushing through, but not anything pretty and green. The ants love it. There are mounds everywhere. This is the first summer that I didn’t cut my yard every two weeks. I think it was only cut three times since summer started.

Remember In Prayer

I heard that Patsy Cromer was having surgery on her heart this week, so please pray everything turns out wonderful for her. Chuck will find out soon if he will be having surgery to clear a clogged artery in his neck. Franklin Shrader will be having the same thing done also, he just got out of the hospital and seems to be doing fine. Louise Baldwin has just had surgery, also. Pray for all of these folks that things will go alright. Keep Regina Denton in your prayers also. Pray that Doc Young’s cancer shrinks with the chemo treatments.

Where Your Name Is

If your name is on the building, you’re rich; if your name is on your desk, you’re middle-class; if your name is on your shirt, you’re poor.

Grocery Ads

Don’t forget I have the grocery ads at the shop, for Bilo and Save a Lot. I get them at the beginning of each week, so you can come and get one and plan your trip to Union and see what’s on sale days ahead. Come in and get a paper back to read also. If you’re interested I even have a 98 Chevy Lumina just sitting in my yard waiting for a new owner. I pay the taxes, and insurance and don’t even drive it. Pity.

Pink Slip

I’ve been fired so many times, I sleep in a pink slip.

Retirement Benefits

Retirement is the best thing that has happened to my brother-in-law.

“I never know what day it is,” he gloated. “All I know is, the day the big paper comes, I have to dress up and go to church.”

Well it’s really late and so I’ll say good night, and call at 864-545-6652.
