UNION — Willie “Leggs” Beaty III, 70, 114 Sunset Lane, died Dec. 29, 2013.
A native of Union, he was the husband of Mattie Stewart Beaty and the son of John Ethel Davis Beaty and the late Willie Beaty Jr. He was a 1962 graduate of Sims High School and a member of Mt. Zion World Outreach. He was a member of (PWA) Professional Whist Association and was a well-known mechanic in the community.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Beaty and Johnny Beaty; and one sister, Mary Lucille Beaty.
Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include two sons, Van (Sonji) Stewart and Douglas Beaty Sr.; two daughters, Deborah Beaty and Amanda Beaty; six brothers, Paul (Shirley) Beaty, Douglas (Earline) Beaty, Harold (Wilhelmenia) Beaty, David Beaty, Michael (Darlene) Beaty, and Randall Walton; two sisters, Brenda (Minister Elgusta) Wright and Mary Cooper; six grandchildren, Preston Beaty, Ayesha Stewart, Douglas “J T” Beaty, Jr., Shakeyla Beaty, Van “VJ” Stewart Jr., and Darius Beaty; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 4, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion World Outreach, 320 Wimberly Drive, Spartanburg. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery, 123 Sardis Road, Union.
The family will receive friends at the home.
