UNION — Truelora Booker “Lola” Gory, 52, 518 McLure St., entered eternal rest Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.


A native of Union, she was the wife of Louis Gory and daughter of the late William Booker and Elizabeth Rice Booker. She attended the public schools of Union County and was member of Beaty’s Chapel AME Zion Church. She was a former member of the Johnson Angelic Singers. She was retired from the S.C. Department of Transports and was a former employee of Union County Schools.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Curtis Booker; and her sister, Dorothy Jean Young.


Survivors in addition to her husband include one son, Joshua Booker of Union; one daughter, Latasha Booker of the home; one granddaughter, Jyazia Booker; five brothers, James R. (Anna) Booker of Killen, TX, William E. (Phyllis) Booker of Houston, TX, Lawrence (Deloris) Booker of Union, S.C., Perry (Deborah) Booker of Hartford, CT, John (Danielle) Booker of Topeka, KS; seven sisters, Mary E. (Eugene) Eison of Kelton, S.C., Elizabeth Means, Irene Booker, Cathy (Larry) Newton, Sherrie Bates, Peggy Booker, all of Union, S.C., and Irma Jean Booker of Hartford, CT.


Funeral services will be held Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Beaty Chapel AME Zion Church with burial in the church cemetery. Reverend Steven Y. Brown will officiate.


The family will receive friends at the home.
