BUFFALO — Mr. Bobby Gene Vinson, 78, 213 Mudbridge Road, Buffalo, S.C., entered into eternal rest Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013 after years of declining health and most recently a battle with cancer.

A lifelong resident of Union, he was born April 16, 1935, a son of the late Ernest Thomas Vinson and Ruby Alman Miller. Bobby made his profession of faith under the leadership of Wayne Levan and was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church. He volunteered his youngest years to the National Guard. He later went on to drive an 18-wheeler for many years before retiring from Bendix Transportation in the early 90s. His love of country music will always linger as we hear the tunes of Conway Twitty, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson. It wouldn’t be complete without adding that he was a loyal fan of The Atlanta Braves Baseball Team.

He leaves to cherish his sweet and gentle spirit, his devoted wife of 36 years, Kathy Webb Vinson; four daughters, Wanda Vinson of Gaffney, Gail Vinson (Bo Gregory) of Buffalo, Delores (Tim) Barber of Waterloo, and Bobbie “BJ” (Charles) Henderson of Buffalo; two sons, David Vinson and Gene (Rebecca) Vinson; four sisters, Francis Ansley (Joe) of Georgia, Betty Kelly (Eddie) of Union, Becky McAbee of Clinton, Kathy Henderson of Lockhart; one brother, JT Vinson (Kathy) of Lockhart. His beloved grandchildren include James Bramlett (Holly), Wanda Wicks (Richie), Missy Lee, Felicia Howard, Tiffany Howard, Kayce Barber, LeighAnn Barber, Brad Barber, Caleb Henderson, Caden Henderson, Kelsey Vinson, and Kollin Vinson; 11 great-grandchildren; and many close and loyal friends.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was predeceased in death by two brothers, Lewis Vinson and Ernest “Jr.” Vinson.

Serving as pallbearers: Tony Gordon, Marcus Reese, Brad Barber, James Bramlett, Jamarr Gaye, and Scottie Darling. Honorary pallbearers include Caleb Henderson, Caden Henderson, Kollin Vinson.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Gentiva Health Care Group, Hospice nurses Debbie Wilson and Celeste West, and caregiver Rose Guerton. We also want to thank Rev. Lynn Ford for ministering and comforting our family.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Buffalo Baptist Church with Rev. Lynn Ford officiating. Interment will follow at Rosemont Cemetery.
