UNION — Carl Roper Betenbaugh, 74, of Ellen Sagar Nursing Home, 1817 Jonesville Highway, Union, S.C., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013.
A son of the late Charlie N. and Margaret Parks Betenbaugh, Mr. Betenbaugh was born Feb. 11, 1939, in Union, S.C. He was employed in the textile industry for most of his working career and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Helen Sue B. Lawson of Union and Joyce B. Carson (Bruce) of Campobello, S.C.; two brothers, Bruce Betenbaugh (Linda) of Buffalo and Bob Betenbaugh (Pat) of Union; a sister-in-law Gail L. Betenbaugh of Union; and best friend and fishing buddy, Johnny Prince of Union.
Mr. Betenbaugh was predeceased by a brother, Charlie N. Betenbaugh Jr.; and a brother-in-law, Wilburn “Booter” Lawson.
A private graveside service will be conducted at a later date by the Rev. Robert Branch with internment in Sardis United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of Ellen Sagar Nursing Home for their wonderful loving care during Mr. Betenbaugh’s sickness and to Blue Ridge Hospice for their care and support.
