GREENVILLE — The USC Union Bantams baseball team competed in the three-day Greenville NCBA Fall Invitational Tournament over the weekend, winning three out of four games played.


On Friday, the Bantams defeated Methodist College with a final score of 17-6. Mike Wood went two for two with a double, a triple and two walks. Wood scored four runs for the team. The winning pitcher was Alec Acevedo, who went two for three with two singles, two RBIs, and two scored runs. Joe Beatty was one for two, as he hit a double and was walked and hit by a pitch. Beatty scored three runs. Nick Owen was one for three with a triple. Larecus Hughes was one for four with a single, a stolen base, and one run scored. Juwan Rice went two for four with a double, a single, a stolen base, and two runs scored. Lee Wilburn was one for one with a single. Wilburn had one RBI.


On Saturday, the Bantams played two games. The first was versus Virginia Tech, and the Bantams were victorious with a final score of 12-2. The winning pitcher was Larecus Hughes, who went one for three with a single, a stolen base, and two runs scored. Mike Wood was one for four with a double and two runs scored. Nick Owen went two for three with a home run, a single, five RBIs, and three runs scored. David Henderson was one for three with a single and one run scored. Kali Williams was two for three with a home run, a double, and three RBIs.


The next game on Saturday was against Appalachian State. The game went into extra innings, and the Bantams were again victorious with a final score of 8-7. Mike Wood delivered the exciting game-winning RBI, which was scored by Devonte “Fox” Glenn. Wood was one for five in the game with a double. Glenn went two for four with two singles, one RBI, and one stolen base. Nick Owen was one for three with a home run, one RBI, and a walk. David Henderson was one for three with a triple, hit by pitch, and two runs scored. Kali Williams was one for one with a single, a walk and one run scored. Jahmal Rice was one for one with a single. Juwan Rice was two for three with two singles, a stolen base, and two runs scored.


On Sunday, the Bantams fell to Elon — 8-7 — in a close game which went into extra innings. Mike Wood was one for five with a single. Larecus Hughes was two for five with a single, a double, and two runs scored. David Henderson was one for four with a single, a walk, and one run scored. Kali Williams was two for two with two singles and a run scored. Alec Acevedo was one for one with a single and one run scored. Juwan Rice was one for four with a single and an RBI. Devonte “Fox” Glenn stole a base. Jaquane Foster was one for one with a single. Christian Burton was also one for one with a single.
