LOCKHART — The Jonesville Lady Wildcats defeated the Lockhart Red Devils in middle school volleyball competition Monday afternoon in Lockhart.
Jonesville defeated Lockhart in a close match, winning three games to Lockhart’s two.
Lockhart won the first two sets with scores of 25-18 and 25-17, but Jonesville battled back, winning three in a row with scores of 26-24, 25-12, and 15-12.
“I’m very proud of the effort my girls made,” said Jonesville Coach Jamie Hughey. “They worked hard and came back for the win, even after being down two games. I was impressed with the leadership that I saw from some of the girls.”
Hughey said Makayla Dyer provided outstanding defense for the team. She also mentioned Kinsleigh Spencer, Larissa Horne, and Jada Jones each served multiple points as well.
“Everybody worked together as a team,” Hughey added.
Lockhart Coach Tracie Farr Campbell said all of the girls deserve credit for their performance on Monday. Campbell said her team members hustled and played as a team.
Lockhart played at Blacksburg on Tuesday; Jonesville hosted EP Todd.
