JONESVILLE — The incumbent, a member of the town council, and a political newcomer are running to be the next mayor of the Town of Jonesville.

Town Clerk April Smith announced Monday that Mayor Ernest Moore, Jonesville Town Councilman Danny Horlacher, and Mark Goudelock have filed to run for mayor in the April 8 election.

Moore, who has served as mayor for the past six years, is seeking his third term in office. Prior to being elected mayor in 2008, Moore served one term as a town councilman.

Prior to 2010, the mayor and town council members were elected in the same year to two-year terms. Beginning in 2010, however, the terms were increased to four years and mayor and council elected in separate years to staggered terms.

Horlacher, who was elected in 2012, is currently serving his first term on the town council. This is his first bid for mayor.

Goudelock, who Smith said recently moved to Jonesville, is making his first bid for elective office in the town.

Water Commissioners

Also on the April 8 ballot will be two seats on the Jonesville Water Commission.

Smith said that incumbent commissioner Julia DeHart has filed to run for reelection and will be on ballot.

The other seat on the ballot is currently held by commissioner Fred Faucett who Simth said did not file to run for reelection. She said that seat will have to be decided by write-in votes.

Depending on where they live, Jonesville voters will cast their ballots at either the Jonesville Municipal Complex on Main Street or at Jonesville Head Start on Alman Street.

The polls will be open April 8 from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
