JONESVILLE — Santa Claus is coming to wish everyone a Merry Christmas at The Potter’s Storehouse.
The Potter’s Storehouse is gearing up for its largest distribution event of the year, which will take place this Saturday, Dec. 21. Sign in will begin at 8:30 a.m., and distribution will begin at 11 a.m.
Weather permitting, Santa will make two appearances — one at 11 a.m. and another at 1 p.m. — bearing a small gift and candy for each of the children in attendance.
Pastor Don Moore said TPS is in need of dry goods such as cereal, rice and noodles, as well as turkeys or hams.
“With over 800 families at Thanksgiving, we are trying our best to prepare for an even larger turnout at this Christmas distribution,” Moore said, adding that donations of dry goods or one or more turkeys or hams would be appreciated.
Moore said TPS is also in need of assistance with its power bill, which is past due.
We also need assistance with our power bill which is past due,” Moore said. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.”
Moore also said local need seems to be increasing, even though there are signs of economic recovery on the horizon.
“The stories we hear every day are heartbreaking, especially for the last month,” Moore said. “Everyone wants or needs help for their children, and not just for toys. They’re asking for gloves, coats, hats and other warm clothing. And of course, toys would be nice.”
Moore said he realized it is short notice, but if anyone would like to donate gift cards for children, he will put them into parents’ hands on Saturday. He said TPS could also use blankets and both kerosene and electric heaters.
Anyone who would like to make a donation (food, clothing or monetary) or volunteer may call Pastor Don Moore at (864) 680-3465.
