JONESVILLE — The owner of a successful restaurant in Jonesville will open a steakhouse in the near future.

Andy Treifi opened Pete’s Restaurant in Jonesville eight years ago, and customers have shown overwhelming support. The restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes while it specializes in Italian and Greek cuisine.

On Friday afternoon, several customers left the restaurant telling Treifi, “That food was delicious!” Other customers (apparent regulars) sat near the counter, joking with Treifi while he worked.

“I decided to give it a try eight years ago, and the people here just love the food,” he said. “Everybody has different favorites — pizza, calzones, subs, lasagna, baked spaghetti, souvlaki, baklava.”

Treifi cooks the food, along with his 24-year-old twin sons, Ayman and Kamal. Treifi said many of his customers have mentioned they would love to have a nice steakhouse nearby, and they have asked him if he has ever thought of opening one. He decided to do just that, and he plans to open what will be Pete’s Steakhouse on Forest Street (near the intersection at U.S. 176) in Jonesville next month.

“I think a good steakhouse in Union County will make everybody happy,” Treifi said. “We will bring the same food quality and a nice atmosphere.”

Treifi plans for the restaurant to offer steaks, seafood and salads on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. He plans to work at both restaurants, but he is currently searching for a chef who specializes in steaks.

Look in upcoming editions of The Union Daily Times for more information about the new restaurant when an official opening date has been set.
