COLUMBIA — State Treasurer Curtis Loftis will visit Foster Park Elementary School at 1 p.m. today to talk to students about the importance of financial literacy.
In a statement released Tuesday afternoon, the State Treasurer’s office announced that Loftis’ visit is part of his “Log on to Financial Literacy” tour. The tour is an effort to encourage students to visit the State Treasurer’s website for fun games and interactive information they can use to develop important financial skills. “Financial literacy is an important key to success,” Loftis said. “I’m excited to continue our tour and encourage students to learn about personal finance and how the economy works.”
The announcement states that Loftis is committed to promoting financial literacy among students across South Carolina.
While at FPES, Loftis will speak with students and parents and then present the school with iPads loaded with financial education software. Loftis has awarded hundreds of computer tablets to schools across South Carolina. The iPads are provided by a private grant and not paid for with state funds.
