UNION COUNTY — Union County High School’s annual Homecoming Spirit Week activities would not be complete without the longtime tradition of Powder Puff football.

The game was rescheduled for Monday night after it was postponed last week due to rain.

Girls of the 11th and 12th grades — coached by UCHS varsity football players — battled on the gridiron Monday night at UCHS.

Homecoming Sponsor/PBIS Chairperson Sonya Glenn said the girls practiced hard on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for the past two weeks.

“This was a highly anticipated game,” Glenn said, adding that the two teams had been talking trash to each other in fun for two weeks. “There is a lot of competition between them.”

Principal Floyd Lyles and faculty members served as officials for the game.

As Monday’s Powder Puff game was still in progress at press time for this edition of The Union Daily Times, a final score was not available. Check www.uniondailytimes.com and The Union Daily Times’ Facebook page for follow-up information.
