UNION — Students at Sims Middle School and their parents have the opportunity to acquire books, posters, and school supplies this week during the Book Fair in the school library.

Librarian Jennifer Tazerouti said that the Book Fair, which runs through Thursday, not only provides students and their parents with the opportunity to buy books and other materials on sale, but to also help the library obtain additional funding and/or new books.

“This is a Scholastic Book Fair which means we get a certain amount of the profit cleared on the sale,” Tazerouti said. “We either get cash or books.”

In addition to giving students and their parents the opportunity to buy books and other materials on sale, Tazerouti said the fair also gives students the opportunity to win the items.

“We’re able to do giveaways for students in our Super Readers program,” Tazerouti said. “Each student in the Super Readers program had their name in a drawing. So far this week we’ve drawn the names of four students and given away $70 in books and supplies.”

Tazerouti said students and parents interested in purchasing books or other materials for sale at the book fair may do so during and after school. She said the library will be open until 4 p.m. each day through Thursday.
