Hello everyone. Let It Snow and boy it did in Whitmire!

Conversation on Facebook from former Whitmire residents was the thing to engage in. Talk of sleds, soda signs, cardboard boxes, lunchroom trays were our generations’ snow toys.

Now in todays world the in thing for snow is ATV or four wheelers. That was the best way to get around The Whitty last week on our snow and ice coated main roads. Kids and adults were out wheelin’ in the snow on our main drags, as Roche’s Pharmacy staff and Thomas Grill & Grocery staffers provided some warm spots and needed supplies.

We say thank you to our dedicated Whitmire Volunteer Fire and Rescue members The dedicated members were out in their personal trucks, cruising slowly on the iced packed roads to check on residents and road mishaps.

Birthdays

Gottrocks The Birthday Fairy texted in our Happy Birthday Wishes, so lets get them done, then on to local news and events.

Speedy Recovery

We send our speedy recovery wishes to Harry Felker, Jimmy Hollingsworth and William Worthy.

Sympathy

Ona sad note, we send our sympathies to the families of Mr. Marvin Quarles and Mr. Ralph Watkins. Rev. Quarles’ wife Rachael was a teacher at Whitmire middle and elementary schools, and Mr. Watkins was a former Newberry County superintendent.

A cozy sitting and reading area on the east end with wingback chairs, not far from the new check out desk, complete with security. A new classroom/training/meeting room, on the west end of the media room. The library also has access to E-Books and has wireless internet access.

Our library staff members “Miss Linder” Linda Bullard and Daniel McMurtury were smiling the entire time as folks Whtmire is so fortunate to have a public library, given our small population count. Be sure to say Thank You to our dedicated staff for their hard work. Folks had withdrawals during the library’s renovation closure. So good to see cars in the parking lot once again.
