News Around Lockhart: More cold weather and leaking pipes
Connie Porter Contributing Columnist
I don’t think we’ve gotten over last weeks cold spell and now I hear there’s another cold front coming in, they are even talking about snow flurries. This time I’ll leave the bathroom door open for some heat and maybe I’ll have better luck and not have a water break. Because, if I know Chuck my water turn off thing is probably in the back of his truck. So there goes the water bill!!
Hugh and Ted are still out trying to get the pipes fixed and people are still calling, they’re going as fast as they can, and staying after hours. Just please have patience. One thing though you need do, check if the leak is on the town side of the meter or your side. If it’s on your side that is your responsibility.
Back From The Hospital
I see that Debbie Gilchrist is back at work after a stay in the hospital. I hope they found her problem and fixed it. We all wish you well, Debbie. They’ve got a wedding coming up pretty soon, Rachael’s getting married. I know Tim will be very sad that one of his little girls will be leaving the nest.
Michelle, Justin, Jeannie, Abby came in and were very entertaining Sunday night. Dale Inman locked them out when he heard them come up the ramp, but after a few minutes I felt sorry for them and had to let them in. And the fun began!! And let’s not leave Chuck out, he was there too.
Earlier, Dusty and Chase came by, and Chuck was there and their conversation went way over my head — hunting!! Chase showed us his plaque for second place in a hunting competition, where’s Chuck and Dusty’s? Chase has been outdoing them for a couple of years now. Sorry guys. Now, much earlier Wayne Grady left his ball game (I think) and came in, too bad Chuck wasn’t here for that would have topped the day off. I have the most entertaining customers on Sunday and love seeing them come in.
Someone came in and told me that Doc was put in the hospital, with pneumonia (I think). Olan Dabbs had surgery on Tuesday morning, and I hope everything went well. I ran into Pearl Gault today and she said she was going to try the pain management clinic to relieve her of her back pain. Good luck in getting her there, girls. Craig Canupp said that his little girl took her first step this morning, she just turned a year old last month, good luck in trying to keep up with her. Luke retired and Brenda’s trying to find him a lot of odd jobs so he won’t get bored. Freeman Reardon needs everyone’s prayers, he’s home from the hospital but still isn’t doing that great (according to his mom, Betty). Monday I went over to Louise Baldwin’s and cut her hair, she just got out of the hospital with double pneumonia and is still feeling under the weather.

I think that Jan. 18 is Laura Dabbs’ birthday. Jan. 27 is Roy Parkins’ birthday. Billie Gault’s on the 19th. Lexie and Lisie Bentley’s birthday is the 22nd, Sandy West’s is the 25th and Stephanie Duncan’s is the 26th.
My father was transferred to a new Navy base when I was four, so my parents quizzed me about our address. After I recited it perfectly, the test continued.
“City?” they asked.
“Memphis” I answered.
“Tis of thee.” I answered.
No Doctor In The House
I was visiting my mother one day, when she passed the candy dish full of chocolates and took one for herself.
“I thought your doctor told you to stop eating candy,” I said.
“Oh, I don’t have to listen to him anymore.” she replied.
Well it’s time to say good night. 864-545-6652
