Congratulations to Sarah Mae Adams on her recent recognition. Sarah Mae was recently presented with a plaque from First Baptist Church for 31 Years of Perfect Attendance in Sunday School. Sarah keeps herself busy with volunteer work in plenty of church activities.
The 2013 TERA Concert Series will feature Christian Raine & Square Roots, Saturday, Oct. 19. The show openers will include some WCS students who participated in the Schools/Kids Got Talent Statewide Contest. Martha “Mott” Suber, Assistant Principal and blues musician, will be working with the kids, and will introduce them.
The TERA Tailgate Party at 4 p.m., Music Begins at 5pm. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy free music and food. TERA Coordinator Jon Durham says “Thank You to our sponsors for making this series possible: Roche’s Pharmacy, The Piggly Wiggly, Southern Wildlife and Property Service and Public Radio Station WNCW-FM 88.7 from North Carolina.
The Oct. 26 Whitmire Halloween Day show looks to be a big one too. The TERA Concert will host as “The Mill Billy Blues Band” will perform down the hill at The Strand Ampitheater in Heritage Park, (Behind Main Street) as The Booster Club hosts the Halloween Carnival at The City Gym. The carnival is a 35-year tradition, bringing Trick Or Treaters and their parents to town. The gym and park are within stone throwing distance of the well lit downtown and gym area. Be sure to look for the “Trunk Or Treaters” to be parked on Main Street late afternoon dishing out Halloween Treats.
The Captain Choice Golf Tourney is a great way to start your Oct. 26 morning. The Tee Time is 9 a.m., the entry fee is $25. This tourney is a fundraiser for the Whitmire Golf Association. The members maintain the course.
The Association will have an updated website in the near future, for now they have a Facebook Page. Whitmire Golf Club and Whitmire Golf Association.
