We say Thank You to Amir Wallace for serving our country in the US Army. Amir, a WCS Graduate, is the son of Jamala (Kim) and Mike Wallace. He was home last week from Texas, to visit his family at their annual reunion before being deployed. We will update Amir’s military news in upcoming editions.
Last week’s Town Council meeting was held in the newly renovated courthouse/chambers on Main Street. The renovation of the old clinic building beside the Baker Senior Center. The meeting was held here to check acoustics, and other factors before final additions and completions are made. The new courthouse/council chambers will be modernized to accommodate changing technology with audio/visual enhancements such as a new PA system with multiple microphones, a digital recorder, a projector and screen for power point presentations. Wireless Internet will be included in these final additions. The funding for this project is from the Newberry County 1% Sales Tax Referendum.
TERA – Tyger Enoree River Alliance has plans to host their October Fall Concert Series at The Heritage Park Strand Amphitheater Stage. According to founder Jon Durham,” three acts have been booked, we’re in the process of getting a blues act. “ The series will feature Folk/Americana, Jazz, Blues and Country/Bluegrass. TERA accepts monetary donations or the purchase of TERA wood, art crafts such the Broad River box, a wooden box speaker system made for cell phones and mobile devices, parachute cord bracelets.
